New libraries for using Flex 2.0 with AJAX
A couple new libraries are coming down the pipeline from Adobe to help integrate AJAX and Flex.
First is the FABridge, which is “a small, unobtrusive library of code that you can insert into a Flex application, a Flex component, or even an empty SWF file to expose it to scripting in the browser.” You can download the FABridge right now, you just need Flex 2.0 and Flex Builder 2.0 installed to start working.
Next, we have an AJAX client for Flex Data Services. This is “a JavaScript library that will enable Ajax developers to access the messaging and data management capabilities of Flex Data Services directly from JavaScript.” While not available yet, the AJAX client will be released some time in the next year.
AJAX and Flex can be used together very effectively and this is a great way to start. Enjoy!
